We moved the studio
Four streets north, and into daylight for the first time in nine years.
Dear friend,
For nine years we made everything in a railway arch with one small window and a damp problem we learned to plan around. Two weeks ago we moved into a first floor room with glass down the whole of one wall. It is the first time any of us has thrown a pot in daylight.
This is the room, photographed before the shelves went up, which is the only week it will ever look this tidy.

TWO HONEST THINGS
Orders placed in the next three weeks will take about ten days longer than usual, because the large kiln is still in pieces and the small one cannot keep up. We are not going to pretend otherwise at checkout.
And the speckled oatmeal glaze is gone for now. It was mixed to behave in a cold damp arch, and in a warm dry room it comes out of the kiln looking like porridge. We are reworking it and it will come back.
Everything else is firing as it should, and the first pieces out of the new kiln were better than anything we made in the arch, which was annoying and also the point.

The first firing in the new kiln comes out on the 27th. Forty-one pieces, most of them seconds, all of them cheaper than they should be.
